More Of This, Please x July 2026
You're reading GET IT TOGETHER, a weekly newsletter about punk/indie/pop music and visual art from a queer-feminist perspective, exploring things that are adjacent to my own creative practice.
This is a free post, but you can support my work starting at $3/month by becoming a newsletter supporter or sharing this with a friend. Thanks for reading.

It's really easy to feel like the walls are closing in right now, so you know what that means - a list of things that keep me from personally drowning! AND it's almost the 4th of July. Happy 250 years of colonialist, capitalist chaos, y'all.
Heavens to Betsy Reunite and Announce Tour
Nothing shifts my mood like immediately buying tickets to a wild, how-is-this-happening tiny show. Last week, short-lived riot grrrl duo Corin Tucker (Sleater Kinney) and Tracey Sawyer played their first show in 32 years in Portland... and I somehow got a ticket. We all need some angry, bordering on murdery, feminist punk right now, right? Right. They just announced a tour, so you have a shot at seeing them soon, too!
The Wisdom of Feeling by Genny Rumancik
Genny Rumancik runs The EQ School, courses and workshops that center around emotional intelligence and self-awareness. I've mentioned her before, but she just released her first book! The Wisdom of Feeling centralizes her practice on how emotional intelligence has a huge impact on our day-to-day and what self-awareness actually means (hint: it doesn't mean just constantly being alone with your thoughts). If you're looking for more ways to show up centered and with curiosity, this is a great place to start.
What To Make Of Me - Olive Klug
They've come up on my social feeds intermittently for a while but this one I finally added to playlists and have kept around. This is one of those songs that sounds classic already, like it must be a cover of an Americana standard. But it's not!
Dancing on the Wall - Muna
Not exactly brand new but Muna has a new record out and it's been the soundtrack to my summer. Who's to say if that's a good thing by listening to these songs but I'm rolling with it. The bridge in East Side Girls sounds like We Didn't Start The Fire and that fact alone is enough to make this a new favorite. Tickets have been acquired to see them in August!
Line Dance for So Hot Your Hurting My Feelings
Yes, I too have started learning how to line dance. My current favorite is the one for So Hot Your Hurting My Feelings by Caroline Polachek. Link above for the only tutorial video I could find. Learning new dances does more for my mental health than working out does, so dance, I shall!
