More of This, Please x November, 2025
You're reading GET IT TOGETHER, a weekly newsletter about punk/indie/pop music and visual art from a queer-feminist perspective, exploring things that are adjacent to my own creative practice.
This is a free post, but you can support my work for $5/month by becoming a newsletter supporter or sharing this with a friend. Thanks for reading.
I'm low on words of wisdom, but I've found the best medicine lately to be reconnecting with my favorite artists. The to-do list is a mile long but I've driven long distances for shows, made time to play pinball by myself and look at comics, explore favorite record recommendations from friends, etc. If you need a few things to check out, here's this month's list of a few things that are keeping me afloat:
Repress of the What's The Furthest Place From Here 7" series
A few years ago Worriers contributed a cover of Mission of Burma's That's How I Escaped My Certain Fate to this 7" series. Recorded during lockdown, it was one of a few covers we worked on that were released in a very limited way. Copies of this one went FAST and they've finally repressed it. You can find copies of a bunch of the 7"s at Revenge Of in Los Angeles, where I recently grabbed a copy of the Julien Baker / Sharon Van Etten split. I don't read many comics these days but the combination of music and a great storyline really have me on this one.
Plosivs - Yell At Cloud
Plosivs are back with a new album and it continues to check all the boxes of my favorite kind of quick and angular, driving post-punk. I always compare myself to one of those musical flowers from the 80s that danced when you played music in front of them - I can really stay motivated and moving if I have good music playing. This is one of those records. If I was a runner, I'd run to this.

Laura Stevenson solo tour
It's over now, but I drove two hours to see Laura Stevenson and Oceanator play solo sets at Scribble in Los Angeles. Well worth the drive, even if it meant fighting the urge to cry through Laura's entire set - no idea what I was even sad about! It just does that! Laura's banter between songs kept me from completely dissolving. If you ever have the chance to see her play live - 10/10 no notes.

Amber Vittoria's prints
I'm trying to fill some wall space and will probably, finally, be purchasing a large art print by Amber Vittoria after years of admiring her work. I first discovered her process videos on social media, but enjoy how she combines playful technique with text to address society's expectations of women.

ICYMI:
Earlier this summer I led 130+ people through 12 weeks of getting un-stuck creatively. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and changed my life, personally.
I’m turning that exercise into an 8-week self-paced course and community to build your creative practice, silence self-doubt, and finally do the work that matters consistently.
