More of This, Please x February 2025
You're reading GET IT TOGETHER, a weekly newsletter about punk/indie/pop music and visual art from a queer-feminist perspective, exploring things that are adjacent to my own creative practice.
This is a free post, but you can support my work by becoming a newsletter supporter or sharing this with a friend. Thanks for reading.
It's hard to come up with things that bring me joy lately but I'm digging deep and sharing some choice items from the past few weeks that have made me momentarily escape from our current reality. Here is this month's edition of More of This, Please!
Texts from Genny
Genny from The EQ School sends texts five times a week that are somewhere between therapy and The Artist's Way. Prompts, reminders, thoughts that guide you back to your intuition. It's $17/month but honestly she can take all of my money. If I had to pick one thing keeping me afloat these days, it would probably be this.
A living wage and healthcare for artists
It makes sense that if you're at a point where a multi-million dollar label is expecting you to drop everything to pursue your art, you should be making a living wage with benefits just as much as any other employee of the company. I really loved Chappell Roan's Grammy acceptance speech.
Debra DiGiovanni is in-between cats
I've been following the comedy career of Debra DiGiovanni for quite a while and in addition to her work just bringing me joy, I admire the fact that she has shared her personal journey relating to food with her followers. I think she's a badass and when she appeared on Jimmy Fallon the other night (!!) she talked about her cat status, ADHD and more. She's one of those people whose success I must applaud.
All sorts of new songs
- Miya Follick - Fist
- Perfume Genius - It's a Mirror
- Sharon Van Etten - Trouble
- Julien Baker + TORRES - Sugar in the Tank
- L.S. Dunes - Forgiveness
- Orla Gartland - Little Chaos
A subscription announcement!
I'm expanding my newsletter tiers to be more accurate and fair to everyone. My bandwidth for creating exclusive things has changed over the past year and I want to be honest about what I can deliver here. So from here on out, this is the arrangement. If you're already a subscriber, no weird feelings if you want to downgrade things. You can also upgrade to a more fun zone, imo. Read on!

You'll have access to rewatch after the fact as well. Here are the first set of scheduled dates.

I have a minimum number of subscribers in mind to make the Chosen Family tier viable, but I believe in you! Share this post with friends who might be into it. Buy a gift subscription for your superfan buddy. I know y'all are out there. This is something many of you have requested (flattering!) so I'm trying.
I'll take requests, give questionable advice, sing you some songs and probably rant a bit. Guaranteed appearances by my small dog, Lucy.
Thank you all again for being here.
