We made a commentary track!

This time last year was a total whirlwind. We were getting ready for our last rehearsals before recording You Or Someone You Know. I was getting emails from our producer John Agnello, who I had never met, helping us work on demos and rearrange songs a bit. I was learning a lot and it was amazing.

Now that it’s out in the world and you’ve probably heard it by now, we wanted to share some stories and weird facts behind the whole thing. So in honor of Bandcamp Day, where they waive their fees, we put together a surprise bonus thing for you - a video commentary track!

Available only when you purchase the record July 3 on Bandcamp**, the commentary video features my bandmates and I, along with producer John Agnello, listening to the whole record front to back and talking about the songs. This was all done over a Zoom call, and was born out of the fact that I miss those guys and wanted an excuse for us all to hang out again. The whole thing is under an hour long and has us talking about things like the key change that could’ve been, secret drone sounds and the time we asked for “the biggest drum you can find.”

So if you buy the record next Friday, you’ll be sent a link to download the commentary video along with an audio version.

**yes, if you’ve already bought the record on Bandcamp, we will send you a link next weekend as well. AFTER July 3 however, you’re SOL (shit outta luck).

Not being able to tour with this record has been a bummer, so the support y’all have shown us has meant a lot. We have some more exciting things to announce in the next couple weeks, so stay tuned.

As you may have figured out by now, our July/August tour with Brian Fallon as been postponed. We’re working on rescheduling it, but you should be able to request a refund now if you’d like to. Here’s what Brian said yesterday:

***TOUR*** Wanted to give everyone an update on the July/August tour. As you can imagine, there’s nothing I’d like to do more than to play for all of you.  Everyone’s safety is my main focus right now, and unfortunately we aren’t a in a place yet to play these shows.  At this point, you should have received an email from the promoter of the shows offering a refund.  I’m working on rescheduling the tour for as soon as I possibly can. If the new dates (tbd) don’t end up working with your schedule you’ll have another opportunity to get a refund.
In the meantime, stay safe and please wear a mask! - Love BrianJune 23, 2020

In somewhat happier news, I have a drawing in the upcoming Underwater show at Giant Robot, featuring artists like Lisa Congdon, Felicia Chiao (I’m obsessed with her drawings), fellow RISD alum Susie Ghahremani and more! There will be a virtual walk-through this Saturday at 12pm PT on the Giant Robot Store Instagram, if you want to pretend like you’re going to an art opening!

Hope everyone is hanging in there.

in solidarity,
Lauren
